1600 Number Service

TRAI-mandated trusted phone number series for outbound informational calls to registered customers.

The 1600 Phone Number Series is introduced to enable organizations to make genuine, verified, and trusted outbound calls to their registered customers.

For a long time, customers across India have been receiving spam and fraud calls impersonating banks, NBFCs, mutual funds, stockbrokers, and pension departments. Due to this misuse, even important and genuine calls often get ignored or missed.

To restore customer confidence, the DoT and TRAI have implemented the 1600 number series, allowing customers to easily identify verified and legitimate calls.
